The “Assembleia Nacional” is the parliament of the Republic of Angola. It is a unicameral, parliamentary chamber representing Angolan citizens. It is the sovereign and exerts the legislative of the State.

The parliament is composed of 220 elect members of the House of Representatives in the terms of the constitution and the electoral law.

The members of the House of Representatives are electing in universal suffrage, free election, equal, direct, and periodic for a five year mandate, in the terms of the law.
